Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has had a torrid year, winning just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in particular - led to him falling of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden title following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court after that period of the previous year.

Success also indicates he has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one different competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my children simultaneously, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six finals, featuring in that event previously this season.

His counter-punching approach and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had caused observers to wonder if his ability to perform at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to come to the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky opponent, winning 4 of the last five points to take the lead.

Both players swapped break points in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his initial ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to force a third set.

The opponent rescued four early break points in a tight third set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner clinched the win with a shot at the net, with his opponent unable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
