The second-hand shopping app has updated its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel without notifying all shoppers about the modification. Online Platforms Reaction Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category versus the original listing due to the recalibration. The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces. It has advised users to check their listings and manually change the size when needed, causing user dissatisfaction. Sizing System Modifications Earlier, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18. User Stories Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as size 20–22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she stated. Required Changes Another shopper, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item". "Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she explained. Marketplace Information The app has more than 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members. It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
